A More Peaceful World

81 years have passed since an atomic bomb affectionately nicknamed “Fat Man” was dropped on the Japanese port of Nagasaki, a Christian enclave in Japan since Jesuit missionaries landed there in the 16th century. About 70,000 died that day vaporised, crushed and burned. About 100,000 more were to die subsequently of radiation sickness.

Apologists for this atrocity try to justify it on the grounds that more would have died from an invasion and a prolonged war, but it was known that Japan was about to surrender.

In deploying and actually using nuclear weapons, the United States ushered humanity into a world where “security” is by compulsion built on ultimate destruction, the end of human civilisation, the annihilation of everything our species has achieved, all science, all knowledge, all art, all music, all architecture, all creativity, all loving kindness. Everything. Gone.

Gone because a handful of technologists and politicians had a theory that peace could be balanced forever on a massive threat, and their theory, amazingly, did not work out quite as expected.

And here, in the UK in 2026, the Labour Government we elected are about to spend billions more of our taxes on making more of these bombs because an faecally incontinent narcissist psychopath demands that we do.

And no journalist raises a single question about the wisdom or safety of this course of action because it is not a subject to be discussed.
